Advanced Design & Engineering
RDS offers full 3D CAD design services using SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor. Every project benefits from detailed mechanical, thermal and electro-mechanical design coupled with rigorous design-for-manufacture (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) analysis, ensuring concepts are both innovative and production-ready.
Rapid Prototyping & Pre-Production
In-house prototyping capabilities include high-resolution 3D printing (FDM, SLA and metal), CNC machining and sheet-metal fabrication. Functional prototypes are routinely delivered in days, allowing fast design iterations and significantly reduced time-to-market for defence, transport, broadcast and industrial applications.
Custom Cable & Interconnect Solutions
Through its strategic partnership with the Volex Group, RDS provides fully bespoke cable assemblies, over-moulded looms, high-flex life cables, RF and fibre-optic harnesses, all manufactured to IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 and relevant military/aerospace standards.
Power Management Expertise
RDS designs and integrates advanced battery management systems (BMS) for lithium-based and alternative chemistries, complete with active balancing, safety certification (UN38.3, IEC 62133) and CAN/SMBus communication. Bespoke uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) – from compact modular units to outdoor, long-runtime systems with remote monitoring – are also available.
Component Supply & Lifecycle Management
RDS supplies industrial-grade memory, solid-state and HDD storage, enclosures and specialist cooling solutions (forced air, liquid and immersion). Long-term obsolescence management and strategic stocking ensure systems remain supported for 10–15 years or more.
Custom HMI Devices
Specialist mechanical keyboards (cherry-pick switches, NVIS backlighting, IP68 sealing), trackballs, joysticks and haptic pointing devices are designed and built to the most demanding military, marine and medical standards.

Design and prototyping remain in the UK, while high-volume production is carried out in Volex Group’s ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and AS9100-accredited facilities across the UK, Poland, Mexico, India, Indonesia and China. 5G & Secure Communications for Remote Management
