Custom Displays for Emergency Health Monitors

We collaborated with a healthcare technology company to design and manufacture a custom display subsystem for a new portable emergency health monitor. Intended for use in high-pressure ambulance, hospital, and field environments, the monitor provides critical real-time vital signs data, battery status, and alert notifications. The display is a safety-critical interface, and the customer specifically required a solution with a long production life to ensure long-term availability and support.

Key Customer Requirements

To meet the demanding specifications, RDS engineered a robust, high-reliability display subsystem featuring:

The customer emphasised the need for a dependable, future-proof component that would remain in production for many years, avoiding costly redesigns or obsolescence issues common in medical devices.

Rapid Deployment and Delivery

RDS delivered working prototypes in under 12 weeks. Through close collaboration and iterative refinement, the team optimised the design for performance, manufacturability, and long-term supply stability.

The final solution combines a 4.7-inch projected capacitive (PCAP) touchscreen with custom cover glass, optical bonding, branded printing, and precision-engineered custom mount - all integrated into a lightweight yet rugged assembly.

The fast-tracked project enabled the customer to launch their emergency health monitor ahead of schedule in a competitive market. The long-lifecycle display solution has strengthened product reliability and positioned the device well for sustained success in the medical sector.
