The 5-wire design is an ideal solution for repetitive applications such as point-of-sale and restaurant systems. 5-wire touch screen
technology uses the bottom substrate for both X-axis and Y-axis
dimensions. The flexible coversheet acts as a voltage-measuring
probe or current-measuring probe only. AMT's 8-wire touch screen is the standard for rugged environments, where the touch screen unit is larger than 10 inches. The advantage of the 8-wire touch screen is its ability to withstand extreme heat, humidity, airborne contaminants; it is also immune to voltage and resistance fluctuation. The 8-wire design is recommended for factory machinery, industrial applications, voting machines, KIOSK and other large size electronic applications. 8-wire touch screen technology is similar to 4-wire technology, with each edge providing one more sensing line as a stable voltage gradient for the touch screen controller, and the other axis performing an accurate voltage probe. |
