RDS Announces Latest AMT PCAP Touch Solutions

Now available from RDS are the latest PCAP touch solutions from AMT. AMT are well-known for their PCAP touch solutions with integrated touch panels, controllers and firmware. The latest range of PCI touch panels complement the advanced functions of AMT's PenMount 3rd generation touch control boards which include PM1210, PM1310, PM1410, PM1710 and PM1711.

These PCI Touch panels are available in sizes from 3.5" to 24" and come with single and multi-touch capabilities as well as durable and scratch resistant surfaces. AMT's PCI touch solutions have advanced EMI immunity. For example, an AMT touch panel paired with a PenMount 1710 control board conforms to IEC 60601-1-2 Edition 4.0 Medical safety standards. It passed radiated RF immunity testing from 9V to 28V in a 385MHz to 60000MHz range. These products have also obtained third party EMC certification, passing IEC 61000-4-3 radiated electromagnetic interference susceptibility testing level III and IEC 61000-4-6 immunity to conducted disturbances tested with 10Vrms. EMC standards which meet the needs for industrial and medical applications.

Numerous types of gloves can be used thanks to the advanced glove touch technology. When water is on the PCI surface the advanced water immunity features focus on no false touch signals. Testing with different liquids, such as saline, blood, saltwater, solvents, beverages etc., has been extensive.

With this latest range of AMT 3rd generation PCI controllers and touch panels RDS has available the most reliable touch solutions for the industrial, medical and commercial markets.

Tianma panel display sizes complement NLT range, now available from RDS

Three panel displays from Tianma add panel sizes that were not manufactured by NLT, to extend the product offering available from Review Display Systems (RDS).

The TM035HDHT1, the TM097TDH02 and TM150TDSG70 have all been added to the Tianma/NLT (TNE) range.

The TM035HDHT1 is a 3.5-inch QVGA, LED backlit panel. It has a contrast ratio of 150:1 and a fast response time of 35ms. It is slim, and compact, measuring 64.0mm x 85.0mm x 2.9mm and operates in temperatures ranging from -20 - +60°C. It is also Transflective for sunlight readability.

The 9.7-inch TM097TDH02 is an anti-glare, LVDS LED module. Screen resolution is 1024 x 768 and the whole unit is compact, measuring just 210mm x 166.3mm x 3.5mm, with an active area of 196mm x 147mm. Total weight is 200g. Power consumption is less than 3.2W. Operating temperature range is -20 - +70°C.

The largest of the new additions is the TM150TDSG70. This 15-inch TFT LCD has a resolution of 1024 x 768 and a typical brightness of 300cd/m². It is designed for industrial applications and has a contrast ratio of 600:1 for sharp images and an anti-glare surface for ease of use in brightly lit areas.

RDS announces the latest AAEON products with 6th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors

Now available from Review Display Systems (RDS) is a new product range utilising the 6th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors. A technology that means products can be developed today which enable IoT solutions for tomorrow.

The latest Com Express Type 6 Modules are AAEON's COM-SKUC6 and COM-SKHB6. The COM-SKHB6 features a quad-core Intel® Core™ i7 processor (H-series), memory support is boosted with up to 32 GB of DDR4-2133 MHz with ECC memory as an option, as well as support for the 4K resolution standard. Applications include solutions for gaming as well as control & automation. The COM-SKUC6 utilises the power-saving dual core Intel Core processor (U-Series) and because of its compact form-factor is ideal for more mobile-oriented applications.

Also available now are the latest Industrial Motherboards utilising the 6th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors (S series), the EMB-H110B, EMB-Q170A, EMB-Q170B and IMBM-Q170, which are now capable of supporting up to 16, 32 and 64 GB of DDR4-2133MHz. The newer and faster M2 connectors are part of the EMB boards and, to facilitate digital signage and kiosk applications, they come with HDMI/DisplayPort combo ports. They are also able to support triple simultaneous displays with HDMI, DisplayPort, LVDS and eDP options. Utilising the latest Intel® Active Management Technology and the Intel® Ethernet Connection 1219 chipset the IMBM-Q71A is ideal for industrial automation and banking applications, with its capability of remote management.

A network appliance, the FWS-7820, has scaled-up connectivity and high-density networking, benefits due to the support of DDR4 memory which allows a maximum of 64 GB of ECC memory to be used. Up to 38 Ethernet ports can be supported from the device itself as well as four swappable Network Interface Modules (NIM). These include an eight-port module with 1 GbE per port, a four-port module with 10 GbE and a two-port module with 40 GbE all from AAEON's NIM selection.

Review Display Systems expands its embedded portfolio with Embedded Peripheral Modules from Innodisk

Review Display Systems (RDS) now offers a full and comprehensive range of Embedded Peripheral Modules from Innodisk. These Embedded Peripheral Modules add flexibility to embedded design with increased configuration and end use options.

Innodisk provides industrial embedded flash and DRAM storage products and technologies, often in space saving form factors. It's Embedded Peripheral Modules provide additional LAN, serial port, storage and display functionality to embedded systems.

The Modules can be used to expand an industrial motherboard to increase PC connectivity, drive multiple displays or to communicate with more devices, to meet the needs of particular applications.

The portfolio now available from RDS includes the EMXX Series of Mini PCIe boards, based on the PCI Express bus and is available in a wide range of modules providing additional USB, SATA, SD, PATA and Display (VGA, TTL, LVDS, HDMI) connections in industrial PCs, handheld and portable devices. Modules have operating temperature options of 0°Cto 70°C, with selected models also operating at the extended operating range of -40°Cto +85°C.

The EGXX Series addresses the M.2 (NGFF) Intel specification for Ultrabooks and tablets. With SATA III speed limited to 6Gb/s, PCIe based storage devices are capable of a much higher throughput. Although actual speed figures are dependent on driver software and PCIe standard used, in excess of 20MB/s can easily be achieved. There are modules available that support up to four SATA III ports and also to support PCIe 3.0 and USB 3.0. They are particularly suitable for general industrial applications, expanding connectivity and protecting data through built-in RAID functionality in a compact module, measuring 22mm x42mm x11mm (EGS-32R1) and 30mm x42mm x11mm (EGPS-3401).

To expand SATA connectivity and to protect data, the Standard PCIe cards in the ESXX Series offer a choice of modules from PCIe to mSATA and M.2 cards (ESX-2301) to the low profile, PCIe to four PCIe Expansion Card module, the ESPP-2401. Dimensions range from 65mm x 82.4mm x 4mm to 163.65mm x 68.9mm x10.25mm. Operating temperature is 0°C to 70°C, except for the ES4S-2101 (IDE to mSATA and mSATA mini module) which also operates at -40 to +85°C. All modules in the series have a three-year warranty.

RDS working with the new rebranded Tianma NLT Europe GmbH in the UK

Tianma, the flat panel display specialist, serving consumer, automotive, industrial, medical and home automation markets, announces a new sales structure, following the transfer of NLT Technologies distributor, Renesas Electronics Europe's Display Business Unit.

Following the transfer of Renesas Electronics Europe GmbH's Display Business Unit to its European subsidiary, Tianma Europe GmbH, the company has reorganized and is renamed Tianma NLT Europe GmbH.

Review Display Systems has worked with NLT Technologies (previously NEC display Technologies) for over a decade, supplying a large range of industrial TFT panels, in screen sizes up to 23inch. The specialist supplier supports customers, from the independent design engineer through to large, blue chip manufacturers.

The new European sales structure means that Tianma Europe GmbH, which sold and marketed Tianma's middle and small sized LCDs, including STN (Super Twisted Nematic) LCDs and various TFT (Thin Film Transistor) displays now includes the resource that was Renesas Electronics Europe's Display Business Unit with NLT Technologies' product range.

NLT Technologies product range includes QVGA (Quarter Video Graphics Array) to QSXGA (Quad Super Extended Graphics Array) resolution displays, employing transmissive, trans-reflective, SFT (Super Fine TFT) and 3D technologies, amongst others, and in display sizes ranging from 5.5 - 22.5inch.

Following the transfer announcement in November 2014, the companies have worked together to ensure a smooth transition and a continuous supply of NLT products and services. The restructuring was completed at the end of March 2015.

The new company, Tianma NLT Europe GmbH, is based in Dusseldorf, Germany and Mr Cui Peng will remain as Managing Director. Staff are being transferred from Renesas Electronics Europe Display Business Unit and join Tianma staff in the new company.

The reorganized company aims to stimulate new opportunities to expand the LCD business in the industrial, medical and automotive markets.

NEW: Robust, versatile COM module operates in extreme conditions

Sturdy enough to be used in transportation systems, AAEON's versatile, cutting edge NanoCOM-BT Module is now available from Review Display Systems (RDS).

The Type 10 COM express module is based on the Intel Atom E3800 processor SoC and offers up to 16GByte of on-board Flash storage. Onboard DDR3L RAM is up to 2GByte, with the option of eMMC storage also available.

The Intel Atom E3800 processor, the memory and the Intel I210-IT Ethernet controller are all industrial grade and designed to operate in extremes of temperature from -40°C to +85°C, to protect against shock and vibration in moving vehicles.

The compact Nanoboard measures 84mm x 55mm yet integrates six USB 2.0 ports and a seventh USB 2.0/3.0 port for flexible I/O expansion. There are also two SATA ports, an 18/24-bit, single channel LVDS and a DDI port, both supporting simultaneous or individual displays, as well as support for 8-bit GPIO and PCI-Express. The NanoCOM-BT Module also supports 10/100/1000Base-TX for faster network connections.

AAEON's Hi-Safe Software allows system monitoring and protection tasks such as watchdog timers and digital I/O control. The software supports popular operating systems Linux and Windows OS. When specific functions are needed, components are available as Software Development Kits.

Transport operators will benefit from the compact size and robust nature of the NanoCOM-BT, but the versatile module can also be used in ticket machines, automation, gaming, point-of-sale and point-of-information kiosks we well as in automation and medical applications.

NEW: Versatile board supports multiple options for mobile multimedia

A versatile board for digital multimedia applications, the Orion RK3288, is available from Review Display Systems (RDS).

Designed for high-performance embedded displays, it supports eDP (embedded Display Port), HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) and MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface). The eDP interface, for LCD use, is available with one, two or four lanes (6bit, 8bit and 10bit respectively).

The Orion RK3288 uses the RockChip RK3288 quad core processor. This low power, high- performance processor integrates the quad core ARM Cortex-A17, which has separate NEON architecture and FPU (Floating Point Unit) coprocessor.

The RK3288 processor supports H.265 decoder (2160pixels at 60 frames per second), an H.264 decoder (2160pixels at 24 frames per second) and also an H.264/MCV/VP8 encoder(1080pixels at 30 frames per second). It also supports high-quality JPEG encoder/decoder and a special image pre- and post-processor.

The embedded 3D GPU (Graphics Processor Unit), the ARM Mali T764, ensures compatibility with OpenGL ES1.1, 2.0 or 3.0, OpenCL 1.1 and DirectX 11 libraries for graphics rendering.
A 2D hardware engine with MMU (Memory Management Unit) will not only maximise the performance of the display, but will also provide smooth operation.

In addition to 2 GByte eMMC (embedded Multi Media Controller) memory, there is 2 GByte DDR3 (Double Data Rate) memory. The high-performance, dual-channel, external memory interface (DDR3, DDR3L, LPDDR2 (Low Power Double Data Rate), or LPDDR3) meets the memory-intensive demands of mobile phones and mobile Internet devices and digital multimedia applications, and sustains the bandwidth requirements.

Peripheral support includes a dual-channel TFT LCD interface with four layers for maximum display size, a four-port USB, (two external and two internal), a MicroSD/SDHC slot, a MicroUSB OTG port, a camera interface and keypad interface, an IR remote control interface and an optional I²C interface for touch capability.

The board meets IEEE802.3 10/100/1000Mbit per sec with Twisted Pair and IEEE802.11b/g/n WiFi with Bluetooth.

Board dimensions are 150 x 110 x 20mm and operating temperature is 0 to +50°C. Input is a 12V DC power adapter or optional SMPS (Switch-Mode Power Supply).

Part of the Fujitsu Industrial Series, the Fujitsu D3243-SMini-ITX Mainboard is available from Review Display Systems (RDS), a leading supplier of industrial single board computers (SBCs).
It is designed for robust operation in industrial and embedded applications.

This Mini-ITX Mainboard is powered by the Intel Q87 Express chipset and supports 4th generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 - 4xxx processors, Intel TE Haswell-based embedded series processors, Intel Pentium G3xxx and Celeron G18xx processors as well as Haswell Refresh processors.

The board has two SO DIMM sockets supporting up to 16GB, DDR3 1333 (CL9) /1600 (CL11) SDRAM. An Intel HD Graphics version is dependent on processor model installed (e.g. HD4600 with support for DX11.1). Connectivity is provided for 1 x DVI-I, 2 x DisplayPort V1.2 and dual-channel, 24bit LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signalling) to support up to three independent displays.

The mainboard is designed and approved for 24 hour, seven-days-a-week operation and is offered with industrial-grade EMI immunity. It operates at an enhanced temperature range of 0 to 60°C to meet industrial and embedded settings.

Automatic switching power circuitry is able to accept either ATX (20 or 24pin) or a 12V only power supply. It is able to withstand a surge current of 18A for 20 seconds, operating at +12Vm 0.05A / 10µF.

Now available from Review Display Systems (RDS) is the new NSI multi-functional 92-key rubber keyboard which also has an integrated trackball and scroll function. The RKTC92 is sealed to IP67 but can be supplied certified to IEC 60945 (marine certification).

The RKCT92 full travel, rubber keyboard has a removable 25mm laser trackball with a top ring that can also be removed, to facilitate cleaning. Both the ball and its compartment can be accessed and cleaned without the need for additional tools.

The keyboard's silicon keys afford the user reassuring, long travel operation.

Backlit and non-backlit versions are available. For the backlit versions, two dedicated keys control the backlight dimming, with a choice of eight light levels. The "capslock" LEDs can take advantage of an intelligent luminosity setting to extend the life of the backlighting.

White backlighting is supplied as standard, although other backlight colours can be supplied, on request.

For energy-efficiency in harsh, space-limited areas, the keyboard uses low-power LEDs to extend the keyboard's lifetime. In addition, no external power supply is necessary, further saving space requirements; the keyboard port power is sufficient for operation.

To further meet limited space or space-conscious designs, the keyboard is available as a front panel-mount version or as an enclosed, waterproof version, rated IP67, with a single USB output cable, to meet a variety of uses in industrial and marine environments.

The RKCT92 keyboard can be customised, with adapted backlighting controls, specific layouts, and to include specific function keys, as well as specified to carry a company logo or be produced in a particular colour.

RDS introduces a wide 12.1" TFT LCD from NLT built for sunlight readability

Review Display Systems (RDS) now offers the NL12880BC20-07F WXGA, TFT Colour LCD module from NLT. It is manufactured specifically to be readable in bright or sunlight conditions in industrial settings.

The 1280 x 800 resolution TFT display has a contrast ratio of 800:1 (typical) and an impressive screen luminance of 1,800cd/m², making it truly readable in sunlight.

The robust industrial LCD module offers high contrast and clear images due to the proprietary ColorXcell technology which reproduces colour that is comparable in intensity to the original video source (i.e. without tint or colour variance), yet with a minimum increase in power consumption.

The 12.1inch display uses an-Si TFT active matrix drive to display over 16milion colours, with 64 grayscale, at 8bit input, and 262, 144 colours at 6bit input via a single channel LVDS connection.

The wide operating temperature of -20 to +70C combined with the high screen brightness makes this panel ideal for outdoor mobile applications.

The module is compact, measuring only 277.7 x 180.6 x 8.7mm for use in space-restricted industrial environments.

The screen can be viewed from all directions and has an anti-glare surface and consumes just 17W (typical).

RDS introduces three new embedded Industrial boards, based on Intel's latest Celeron J1900, N2930, N2807 and Atom E3800 Series Platform, from AAEON

Review Display Systems Ltd (RDS) specialist provider of Industrial and commercial display systems and embedded computing solutions, introduces three new embedded boards from AAEON based on Intel's latest Baytrail range of CPU platforms.

The boards have been developed in three different industrial formats to cover a range of applications.

For handheld and space conscious applications, where users have configured their own base board, using the compact COM Express Type 6 format CPU module, the COM-BT, is available in single, dual and quad core versions, based on the Intel® Atom™E3815 (single), E3827 (dual) and E3845 (quad) processors.

It will support up to 4GB DDR3L 1066/1333MHz SODIMM, two SATA 3.0Bb/s I/O ports and an option 4GB eMMC port. The board supports two simultaneous display outputs: VGA, DVI, HDMI, DP and eDP. There is also a high-definition audio interface and support for Intel Gigabit Ethernet.

The GENE-BT05 is a 3.5inch, feature rich industrial sub-compact motherboard and features Intel® Celeron N2930/ N2807 processors, with 204 pin SODIMM DDR3L, maximum 8GB of system memory, and twin Gigabit Ethernet. It supports CRT/LCD, HDMI/LCD simultaneous or dual view displays. A four-, five- or eight-wire resistive touch screen is available as an option. Storage options are SATA 3.0Gb/s x1 and CFast™ x1. The two channel HD audio offers line-in, line-out and mic-in. The board operates at +12V and has a range of expansion options.

Finally the largest of the three formats initially released is the EMB-BT1 thin Mini-ITX embedded motherboard is based on Intel® Atom™ E3845/E3825 processors, delivering 1.91GHz and 1.33GHz respectively. The dual display board supports VGA, HDMI and LVDS and has SATA 6.0Gb/s x 2 and SATA 3.0Gb/s x 2 I/O ports. This board is ideal where space is not at such a premium, such as behind a display panel greater than 10.4 inches in size. This format is also the most economical to produce making it a great solution for more cost sensitive applications.

RDS makes a splash with NLT's WXGA TFT LCD modules

Review Display Systems (RDS) has announced a 15.6inch, WXGA, a-Si (amorphous- silicon) TFT LCD module from NLT Technologies. The NL13676BC25-03F has been designed for outdoor applications, but with a longer backlight lifetime of 70,000 hours to reduce power consumption without affecting brightness.

The wide format module can be used in boating equipment, construction devices and industrial applications. It has a luminance of 1100cd/m² and a high contrast ratio of 900:1 resulting in excellent viewability, even in high ambient light environments. Resolution is 1366 x 768.

The long-life white LED backlight lowers maintenance costs, compared to typical high power backlights used in conventional outdoor displays, achieving high brightness by optimising heat dissipation. Furthermore, it is mercury-free.

Operating temperature ranges from -20 to +70, to guarantee stable operation in extreme conditions.

At 15.6 inches, the TFT LCD is the largest in NLT's high bright product family. The wide format allows more data to be shown on the display, and for multi-function displays in marine equipment, where a variety of information and data need to be viewed on a single display at the same time.

The module measures 363.8 x 215.9 x 12.65mm.

The LCD module was showcased at the recent Embedded System Expo, Tokyo, Japan and Display Week 2014, San Diego, California, USA. Samples are scheduled for September 2014.

RDS Announces NLT technologies Ltd Industrial Hi-Bright Seven and Eight inch TFT panels.

Designed to provide impressive display performance in high ambient light the NL8048AC21-01F and the NL8048AC19-14F are compact display panels with a diagonal screen size of eight inches and seven inches respectively.

Both these panels feature a high bright LED technology backlight giving the screens a brightness of 1000cd/m² and a half-life of 100,000 hours, making it ideal for programs where a long product is a requirement.

The screens high brightness levels also make these panels ideal for applications which use a touch screen as this will offset some of the reductions introduced by the construction of the touch sensor.

The display viewing angles are 80 degrees all round and the extended temperature range of -30C to +85C makes the panels suitable for outdoor monitoring equipment or mobile applications in extreme environments.

The wide VGA (800x480 pixels) resolution panels are able to display 262,144 colours and have a pixel pitch of 0.21mm
