XScale® Single Board Computers

The VRM -270 is a UK manufactured range of Single Board Computers and Computer-On-Modules. They have been designed, and manufactured to support a broad range of hardware and software solutions for both commercial and industrial applications requiring a low power, compact engine.

The VRM270 Single Board Computer is the core product. Based around the Intel PXA270 XScale® processor, and is one of the features packed VRM270XX range of boards with pre-built Windows CE 5.0 or Windows CE 6.0 kernels aimed at providing a very fast time to market for a broad range of powered, mobile and handheld applications.

With wireless MMX, Quick Capture and SpeedStep technology and running at up to 520MHz the VRM270 integrates a wide-range of interface and I/O functions including; LCD, Touch Screen, USB Host and Device, CAN, I2C, SPI, Keypad, Joystick, RS232, RS485 and logic level Serial I/O, 10/100 Ethernet, miniSD, CompactFlash, microphone, headphone, line-in, line-out, SPDIF, loudspeaker driver, LED and CCFL backlight dimming control and a range of GPIO options.

The board incorporates very low power 1.8V mobile SDRAM and Flash memory and features extensive power management and power input options including; dynamic voltage management, on-board battery charger, power-path management controller and wide-range voltage input (8 – 42V) options. PoE (Power over Ethernet) support is also available through the use of a low-cost personality module allowing the board to be powered from PoE Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE).

Measuring just 85 x 65mm the board can be used stand-alone or as a Computer-On-Module (COM)

The board can be configured with specific power, I/O and interface arrangements, even in relatively low volume, allowing it to be optimised for price/performance to meet specific application requirements. Comprehensive support is available for Windows CE 5.0 and Windows CE 6.0 with a broad range of software support and utilities available to make getting applications up and running quickly and easily.

Starter-kits including 3.5”, 4.0”, 5.7”, 6.5”, 10.4” and 12.1” LCD’s, GPS, GPRS, WLAN and Bluetooth with Windows CE 5.0 and Windows 6.0 are available.
